Epoxy Floor Coating Is Excellent for Long-Term Protection

Most of the flooring in your home is likely chosen for its attractiveness, and that’s fine – but what about areas where the flooring may be in real danger of being damaged? Garages and workshops, for example, see a lot more flooring problems than other areas such as the living room. Even the kitchen can see rough use.

In these cases, epoxy floor coating is often the best way to go. Epoxy is inexpensive, and creates floors that can last for decades with minimal maintenance.

Why Choose Epoxy Floor Coatings to Protect Vulnerable Floors

  • Super strength

When properly installed and allowed to fully harden, an epoxy floor will be incredibly strong and capable of standing up to abuse. It’s perfect for garage floors since it can handle even large vehicles driving on it without issue.

  • Easy cleaning

An epoxy floor coating creates a perfectly flat and seamless surface on your floor which is extremely easy to clean. All it requires is basic soap and water, with no special treatment necessary. In many cases, it can simply be hosed off and look as good as new afterward.

Likewise, epoxy is nearly impossible to stain, which is why we always recommend it for situations where you might otherwise be using a plain concrete slab, such as garages or basements.

  • Long lifespan

With just minimal maintenance, an epoxy floor in your home can easily last 10-20 years, at least. It’s quite hard to damage, and if it is damaged, you can usually just ‘patch’ it by applying a bit more epoxy over the crack.

  • Relatively easy application

Epoxy installation does require safety gear and masks, due to the fumes when first laid down, but otherwise, it’s a fairly easy process. The epoxy itself is simply rolled or sprayed onto the floor, where it self-levels as a liquid. Then it needs around 48 hours to harden, and it’s done.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that the area must be completely dry; even small amounts of water can inhibit the epoxy’s hardening. If you’re installing epoxy floor coating in a garage, keep an eye on the weather – a heavy rainstorm could increase humidity enough to cause problems.
